
TJ's Student Council distributed to the DAR cards for service members that students at TJ have been working on since Veterans Day. The holiday greetings will go to people serving overseas and ones currently living in Falls Church.


Students in 3rd grade played a game of "money war" so the teacher could pre-assess what students know about money and what strategies they retained from last year. The students applied their knowledge to shopping, adding up different customers' purchases and making change.


Even though the 2nd and 5th grades are now in different buildings, they still enjoy buddy reading. The 5th grade visited on Friday to pair off with 2nd graders and listen to them read and read to them.


The fourth grade transported back to the year 1607! Students were able to watch a glass blowing demonstration, visit the archaeological dig, and the replica of the shp Godspeed. They explored the settlement and the waterfront making for a great day seeing history come to life.


November 13 was World Kindness Day, these third graders took the time to write messages to all their classmates on a heart for each student. Affirmations as short and sweet as "you are kind and funny" and "I like how you always seem happy" were shared by students, for students.


Each week, TJ subteams meet to unpack standards, plan lessons, or assess data in order to better our instructional program. #buildingtogether


5th graders are using leftover Halloween candy to explore how a dichotomous key works. The students are classifying candy by answering yes/no questions about each piece. Scientists construct a dichotomous key using different characteristics to divide the organisms into groups.

Students in fourth-grade math are working on whiteboards with their teacher to figure out strategies for multiplying 321 x 152, and are practicing the box method of multiplication. Students in this group were challenging themselves to solve their first 3x2 problem!


After 26 years of making the floors shine, setting up and restacking chairs for evening events, cleaning the cafeteria, and so much more, Mr. Morales is taking his delightful sense of humor and a generous smile on to new adventures. All the best wishes on your retirement!

A fourth-grade class had some Day of the Dead activities during Tiger Pause. The students learned about the Mexican celebration in remembrance of friends and family who have died and then worked on colorful skull art that is part of the tradition.

It's that time of year! The Lost and Found is growing daily as the weather fluctuates. Remember to check the lost and found AND label your student's clothing (especially spiritwear!)


As part of October's anti-bullying focus, TJ counselors are leading classroom lessons encouraging students to be "Upstanders." This month, students are also reinforcing their view of TJ's caring community by "leaf"ing their mark on the Unity Trees in the main hall.

Bookfair night after school shopping is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday October 22, 23, 24 from 5:30-8:00. Students can shop during school hours with teacher permission Wednesday, Thursday all school day and Friday from 8:40am-10:00am
