To ensure that all FCCPS students have the food they need, FCCPS is partnering with Food for Neighbors to help provide food for secondary school students. Everyone in the City can join this food program, called The Red Bag Program.
Red Bag participants are asked to donate a bag of food five time per year, on Saturday mornings. Donors can include anything from a specified list. The bag is collected by volunteers; brought to a central site to be sorted by volunteers; placed into shelf-stable bins and delivered to middle and high schools in Northern Virginia. The first date for FCCPS schools will be April 25, 2026.
What can you do?
Sign up for The Red Bag Program, and a grocery bag will be delivered to your home, with instructions on what to put inside, and when it will be collected.
Sign up to be a Red Bag Program volunteer to help collect, sort, or deliver food.
